    iRuFARS-2024

    The International Research Symposium of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, University of Ruhuna (iRuFARS-2024), is scheduled to be held on July 4 th and 5 th , 2024, at the faculty of Allied Health Sciences. This year, the event is themed as 'Developing a Future Multidisciplinary Workforce in Rapidly Changing Healthcare'. The symposium will bring prominent pharmaceutical industry stakeholders, researchers, medical consultants, healthcare professionals, and undergraduates from the medical and allied health sciences together. Pre-conference workshop on 4 th  of July will focus on enhancing Local Manufacturing of Pharmaceuticals, featuring resource persons from Sri Lanka Pharmaceutical Manufacturers' Association (SLPMA). This session will open up to all local pharmaceutical manufacturers. The conference on July 5 th aims to unite local and international health communities for the advancement of the health sector. Novel research findings in the fields of Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS), Nursing and medicine will be presented by local and international professionals. iRuFARS-2024 offers an engaging platform for connecting with expanding research networks and showcasing outstanding work. The symposium will feature a pre-conference workshop, keynote speeches, and sessions for oral and poster abstract presentations, facilitating discussions and knowledge dissemination across various health-related disciplines. We warmly invite local and international researchers to submit abstracts for consideration at iRuFARS 2024.

    12th Annual Academic Sessions of the Faculty of Medicine (FMAS-2024)

    The Annual Academic Sessions of Faculty of Medicine is an event that brings together medical undergraduates, academics, researchers and other health care professionals to present and discuss research findings, best practices and innovations in the field of medicine in Sri Lanka. The sessions are held once a year and are attended by a wide range of stakeholders, including researchers, practitioners, academic members and students.

    During the Annual Academic Sessions, participants present research papers, case studies, and share their experiences and knowledge about various aspects of health such as clinical medicine, public health, basic sciences and applied sciences. The event provides an opportunity for participants to network with colleagues, share ideas, learn from each other and contribute to the advancement of health system of the country.

    The Annual Academic Sessions also feature an oration, keynote speech and symposium with expert panels on emerging issues and challenges in health, which provide thought-provoking insights into the current state of health system in Sri Lanka. Further FMAS offers medical undergraduates to enhance the knowledge and enthusiasm thus promoting research career as young researchers.

    Indian International Open Para Athletic Championships – 2023

    Indian International Open Para Athletic Championships – 2023 will be held from 5 th to 7 th May 2023 in Bangalore, India. This is a qualifying Championship for competing in the Asian Para Athletics Championships and World Para Athletics Championships. Ms. W.A.K.K. Dayani (HS/2020/18351) who is currently pursuing her studies at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences has been selected by Sri Lanka Para Athletic Committee to compete in the 100m event and Long Jump event in the above Championships. For the first time in history, a student from the University of Ruhuna qualified to represent in this international Championship. The University of Ruhuna wishes her all the best.
