Awarding Ceremony - “A New Dawn – 2021/22” The Inter-University Students’ Competition
‘A New Dawn’, an Inter-University Students’ competition organized by The Department of Sociology and the Sociological Association in collaboration with the Cultural Center of the University of Ruhuna. The awarding ceremony of this event was held on 04 th of January 2023 from 2.00 pm onwards at the Rabindranath Tagore Auditorium of the University of Ruhuna, Matara, Sri Lanka.
This event was graced by the chief guest Senior Prof. Sujeewa Amarasena, the Vice-chancellor of the University and Prof. E.P.S Chandana, Deputy Vice-chancellor of the University. Further, Prof. Upali Pannilage, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Dr. A. M. A. S Gunasekara, Head, Department of Sociology, Dr. Deva Michael De Silva, Coordinator, Cultural Center of the University of Ruhuna and many academic staff members, non- academic staff members as well as students of the university and schools were participated.
Moreover, Prof. Mohamad Mahees, Department of Sociology, University of Colombo delivered the keynote speech. In addition to that the Mr. Mahendra Perera (Veteran artist) and Mr.Prasanna Jayakodi (Film director & screen writer) also graced the occasion.
