Opportunity to Complete the Degree – Grace Period and Repeat Examinations 

The Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS), University of Ruhuna, is pleased to inform all students  who were enrolled in the Master of Arts in Peace and Development Studies program (By-Law  No. MsRHSS 01-2016) that the University Senate has approved a special concession to  provide a final opportunity to complete the degree requirements. 

This decision was made recognizing that several students of the HS-2015, HS-2016, HS-2017,  and HS-2020 intakes were unable to complete their studies within the stipulated maximum  duration due to the absence of repeat examinations after 2020. Accordingly, the following  provisions are offered: 

1.Grant of a One-Year Grace Period 

All students of the MA in Peace and Development Studies (HS-2015 to HS-2020 intakes) who  have not yet completed the degree are granted a one-year grace period from the date of this  notice to fulfill all remaining academic requirements. During this period, students will be  allowed to: 

  1. Sit for repeat examinations of the required course modules; 
  2. Complete any pending coursework or research components necessary for graduation. 

 

2.Special Repeat Examinations 

Special repeat examinations will be conducted for the following course modules to facilitate  completion: 

PDS6131, PDS6132, PDS6133, PDS6134, PDS6135 PDS6231, PDS6232, PDS6233, PDS6234, PDS6235 PDS6331, PDS6332, PDS6333, PDS6334, PDS6335 PDS10131, PDS10132, PDS10133, PDS10134, PDS10135 PDS10231, PDS10232, PDS10233, PDS10234, PDS 10235 

The detailed examination timetable, fee schedule for repeat examinations, and the  application procedure will be notified separately by the Faculty Office. Students are strongly  advised to make use of this final opportunity to complete the program within the stipulated  grace period. 

3.Important Notes 

  1. This is the final opportunity granted to complete or exit from the program under the  previous By-Law. 
  2. The grace period will not be extended further under any circumstances.
  3. Students are encouraged to contact the Assistant Registrar, Faculty of Graduate  Studies, for clarifications regarding eligibility, repeat examination registration, or exit  options.

All eligible students are kindly requested to make the best use of this opportunity to complete  their postgraduate qualification successfully.
