The Ruhuna International Conference on Innovation and Technology (RICT) 2023.

The 1 st international conference organized by the Faculty of Technology, University of Ruhuna, RICIT 2023 was held successfully on 24 th November 2023, at the faculty premises. The theme of this year was “Technological Transformation: Navigating Innovations and Trends”. The conference's chief guest was Senior Professor Sujeewa Amarasena, Vice Chancellor of the University of Ruhuna. Prof. Morihiro Maeda from Okayama University's Graduate School of Environmental and Life Science in Japan delivered the keynote speech at the inauguration. Four technical sessions comprised the conference: Science and Agriculture; Engineering Technology; Computer Science; and Management and Entrepreneurship. By joining virtually, keynote speakers who were experts in their fields contributed to those technical sessions. Keynote speakers for the technical sessions on computer science, science and agriculture, and engineering technology were Prof. Ping Yu from the School of Computing and Information Technology, Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences, University of Wollongong, Australia; Prof. Ajith Karunarathne from the Department of Chemistry, Associate Professor in Chemical Biology and Molecular Pharmacology, and Institute for Drug and Biotherapeutic Innovation, Saint Louis University, USA; and Prof. M. Razi Nalim from Purdue University, USA, Associate Dean for Research, Mechanical and Energy Engineering, Purdue University, USA. Out of the more than 100 manuscripts that we received, 57 were accepted from ten different countries. We have the potential to host a product showcase concurrently with the conference, providing an opportunity for inventors. It was an opportunity for inventors that we could organize a product showcase in parallel to the conference.
